- Lake Talquin State Park (Tallahassee, Florida): Florida’s Emerald Coast has a number of destinations that make for great trips including Lake Talquin State Park located just a half hour west of the state capitol, Tallahassee. This state park is a peaceful setting to hike, fish, kayak, canoe, and bird watch. There’s also a lengthy 650 foot boardwalk you can walk along for incredible views of the scenic Lake Talquin.
- Big Shoals State Park (White Springs, Florida): Before getting to the end of Interstate 10 in Jacksonville, take the time to spend at least a day exploring Big Shoals State Park. This state park has the largest whitewater rapids in all of Florida, massive limestone bluffs, and a wide variety of wooded trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riding. Of note, the state park itself is only open during the day, but there are several options camping options nearby.
