Whether you use your RV to live in throughout the year or for select excursions, one priority remains the same: keeping it clean.
With space at a premium, it can be hard to have everything you’d like on hand to keep your RV consistently looking brand new. Not to mention what can happen from the rigors of less than ideal road conditions and extreme weather. For some, it may seem like a never ending cycle of keeping the RV clean. We’re here to help make this process more manageable with some tips for better effectiveness and efficiency.
- Vacuum Cleaner
A rechargeable compact vacuum cleaner is a must for cleaning all floor surfaces. Your RV may have a central vacuum system, but it’s important to not have to go through the hassle of pulling out the long cord. - Interchangeable Mops and Brushes
Use a mop with interchangeable heads. It’ll keep floors cleaner and save space. A wet head can be used to wash floor surfaces. A dry head captures dust and dirt in tight spaces a vacuum may not reach and can also be used to mop up condensation in areas such as windows and bathroom walls thus avoiding damage caused by the moisture. Once both types of heads are used, they can be easily cleaned and ready for use again. We’d also recommend interchangeable brushes meant for RVs. These help wash the RV in areas difficult to reach without a ladder. When using these, always make sure to clean from top to bottom. The inverse will create more work. - Toothbrushes
Many may just think of using a toothbrush to brush your teeth, but the reality is they have a lot more purposes than just that. Another purpose is to clean tight areas where a vacuum would have a hard time reaching such as between the folds in seats and windows blinds as well as underneath faucets and toilet bowl rims. - Multi Purpose Cleaner
There are such a variety of cleaners for seemingly everything, you can quickly fill up storage with these. Rather than run into this problem with individual cleaners for each surface type, buy a multi purpose cleaner capable of being used on multiple surfaces. This will also save you money having a single cleaner as opposed to several. - Micro Fiber Clothes
Micro fiber clothes are inexpensive and don’t take up much space. You can also get a lot of use out of them and will last awhile by cleaning in between each time you use one. - Disinfecting Wipes
There will be times when an all purpose cleaner isn’t necessary. Disinfecting wipes can be a quick way to clean up minor spills or dirty areas like toilet seats, sinks, and the kitchen. - Closet Shelf Hangers
Maximizing space to store cleaning items is key. Closet shelf hangers create a better use of space. They easily hang on closet rails providing shelf units that can be used to store items such as clothes, towels, and shoes. - Door Mats
You’d be surprised how easily a lot of dirt can built up in an RV. One way to combat that is to have a door mat on the floor where you initially walk in. This will trap the dirt before it spreads to other areas of the RV.
